Đáp án đề thi Ielts Writing Task 2 (12.05.2018)
Topic: Some people think that a huge amount of time and money is spent on the protection of wild animals, and that this money could be better spent on the human population. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
This essay requires examinees to express their opinion, support or not, towards a statement, and explain reasons why
There are 2 reasons why money spent on protection of wild animal is worthwhile
+ Wild animals are a source of entertainment, environment sustainability and scientific research
+ Preserving animal habitats is beneficial to human being.
There is 1 reason why investment on wildlife is sometimes not the best way
+ Money could be spent on improving human living standard, thus avoiding people from threatening wildlife
Wildlife degradation is driving our effort to spent money on preserving wild animals. Some people maintain that this investment should be directed to human instead. From my perspective, I disagree, with some reservations, with this line of thought.
Regarding about wildlife benefits, it goes without saying that wild animals are a huge source of entertainment, environment sustainability and research experiment. Lions, tigers, alligators and other wildlife creatures are the most important part of a zoo or any ecotourism park, creating recreational values for human well-being. Furthermore, as a part of environment ecosystem, wild animals play a critical role in maintaining not only food chain, but also natural process in which plants and microorganisms are involved. More to the point, scientists all over the world depend on animal test to derive insights essential for our life, such as experiment on a particular type of bird to test how it transmits disease to humans.
Another argument for wildlife conservation lies on essence of animal habitats to human beings. It is inarguable that forests, the place of living for most of wild animals, help keep human alive on earth, since they absorb carbon dioxide, provide oxygen, purify atmosphere and prevent natural disasters, such as floods or erosion. Especially nowadays when global warming, which is partly caused by exhaust fume from human’s activities, is increasingly threatening human living, the important functions of plantation are evident.
Pouring a large amount of money to avoiding wildlife downgrading without addressing its root causes is not totally justifiable, though. To put an example, in some rural areas, lacks of jobs and low awareness about wildlife might be the biggest motives for forest exploitation and animal hunting. Therefore, providing financial support to create new jobs and raise awareness of local inhabitants, rather than investing directly to preserving wild animals, could be a viable solution.
To draw a conclusion, spending money on wild animals is a thoughtful action, on the grounds that these creatures contribute substantial values in recreational, ecological and scientific aspects. Hence, protecting wildlife habitat could be regarded as an approach to preserving human life quality. At the same time, I do not highly recommend impulsive investment without taking into account rationales of problems.
