Topic: Advertisements are becoming more and more common in everyday life. Is it a positive or negative development?
Many manufacturers tend to place a greater emphasis on advertising, which makes advertisements more popular than ever before. In this essay, I will discuss some arguments for and against the prevalence of advertisements as well as state my own opinion.
On the one hand, advertisements are becoming ubiquitous for a number of their obvious advantages. First and foremost, advertising plays a significant role in the introduction of a new product. A unique advert will probably fulfil a manufacturer’s desire to expand their market in today’s fiercely competitive business world. In addition, advertisements help educate consumers by familiarizing them with the new products and their diverse uses. As a result, buyers are better-informed about available products. It is also worth pointing out that advertising creates more employment opportunities for many talented people. For instance, designers, cartoonists and people working in advertising-related fields will have a steady job thanks to the popularity of advertisements.
On the other hand, the fact that adverts are getting more and more prevalent in daily life also brings about some drawbacks. To begin with, the widespread use of advertising will eventually lead to high prices of products. Manufacturers spend a large amount of money on advertising, which will certainly increase the cost of the products, thus raising the price of goods. Moreover, some people maintain that advertisements may confuse rather than help buyers. This is because the actual product is sometimes quite different from the information given in the advert. Last but not least, advertisements can cause decay of social values. Many times, foul language and objectionable pictures are used in advertising in order to attract a particular class.
All things considered, this is a complex issue with no clear answer. My belief is that only when advertisements are carried out in a prudent way will they have positive effects on our society.
